Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan has said that Turkey's debt to the IMF will be paid off in April 2013.

Çağlayan inaugurated the opening of the Seydişehir Ahmet Cengiz Engineering Faculty of Selçuk University. In a speech he delivered there, Economy Minister Çağlayan congratulated those who contributed to the realization of the project and explained the latest developments regarding the economy.

He said the debt to the IMF which stood at 23,5 billion dollars when the ruling Justice and Development Party came to power in 2002 was nearing being repaid completely and the remaining 1,5 billion dollar would be paid off in April 2013. He said further that it was Turkey's turn now to give money to the IMF and cited the recent transfer of 5 billion dollars by Turkey to the IMF coffers to be given to whoever needed it.
