The militants who carried out the attack are believed to have links with al Qaeda.

The militants had fired rocket-propelled grenades at the intelligence service’s building, shattering windows and setting it on fire before fleeing the scene.

Reportedly those who died in the attack include 11 soldiers and 3 civilians.

Al-Qaeda controls a significant part of Yemen’s southern and eastern parts due to power vacuum.
