Dignitaries and political leaders wished a happy Ramadan festival to people.

Unity and solidarity was stressed in their messages and determination in fight against terrorism was expressed.

President Abdullah Gül said: "I would like to stress once again that those who want to prevent Turkey's progress and break the peace will never be allowed to do so".

Also touching on Syria in his message, President Gül said: "We sincerely wish that bloodshed in Syria ends and our Syrian brothers live in a peaceful atmosphere once again. Turkey will continue to exert efforts for the establishment of peace, order and security in our region and the world".

The speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly TGNA Cemil Çiçek said that Turkey's most important guarantee against social issues and problems like terrorism is brotherhood, unity and solidarity.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stressed unity and solidarity in his message.

CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu sent his Ramadan greetings in a message on a social sharing website.

"I wish a happy Ramadan festival to all Turkish people and the Islamic world" he said.

MHP leader Deniz Bahçeli condemned terrorism in his message. "Turkish people have experienced sorrows and suffered losses in the past month. I wish that the Ramadan festival further consolidates our brotherhood and unity that are threatened and gives us strength and inspiration to overcome issues that we are facing" he said.
