ETHIOPIA’S LONGTIME RULER ZENAWI DIES

BBC has announced that Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has died after months of speculation about his health.

Speculation that Meles was seriously ill grew after he failed to attend the African Union summit in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa last month.

Reportedly Meles had been suffering from an undisclosed illness.

Meles seized power as the leader of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front in 1991 from the Mengistu Haile Mariam's socialist government.
