The Syria crisis was the major subject taken up by the two leaders. The exit of Al Assad and fulfillment of the Syrian people's legitimate demands as well as speeding up the transitional process in politics were what Erdoğan and Obama exchanged views on.

Prime Minister Erdoğan and President Obama also expressed concern over the worsening of humanitarian conditions because of bloodshed and increasing carnage in Syria. They also decided to be in contact to support the democratic transitional process in Syria.
